Architectural value
Built at the end of the 18th – beg, of the 19th c.
The building in Tilzes Street is one of the oldest in that street. The one-storeyed
brick house with a garret is symmetrical of a rectangular plan. It is a house of a Klaipeda middle class
citizen. Originally it was a one-storeyd house. At the end of the 19th c, with an acute shortage of
flats in the city, the house was expanded and a garret was built. Under
one part of the house a basement was built. The house has interesting wooden
stairs inside. The house underwent
several reconstructions and lost its original look. In 1855 a butcher Heinrich Schmitdt owned the house.
In 1929 the house was reconstructed and used
for renting.
