Architectural value
Built in the 19thc
The houses were owned by craftsmen and middle class citizens. The craftsmen did some farming as well,
therefore the houses had yards. The
houses were built in the second half of the 19th c. after the fire
in 1854. At the end of the century they were restored, made bigger and wider, the yards were made smaller.
The houses were rented out.
A house No. 7 of Kepeju street belonged to a merchant. It was restored (with the intention to bring back its original
exterior) in the style of Classicism – the central part of the building was
raised to the height of two storeys with the triangular pediment in the center
and a wide cornice.
