In 1923 - 1939 the first in the Klaipeda county music school of Stasys Simkus was operating. Many famous people of Lithuanian culture worked there Stasys Simkus (1887 - 1943), Ignas Prielgauskas (1871 - 1956), Vydunas (1868 - 0953), Juozas Karosas (1890 - 1981). Now is – Klaipėdos Stasio Šimkaus conservatory.
