Lithuanian school of water coloring is famous for such artists as: Kajetonas Sklerius, Ceslovas Kontrimas, Petras Stauskas, Osvaldas Jablonskis and others, left an indelible sign in the history of art. Renate Lusis, one of the most famous water-colorist in Klaipeda region, complements to the other artists with her creative work, proving her faithfulness to the capricious and hard to master water-coloring art. Drama Theater of Klaipeda has played an important role in Renate Lusis works, encompassing Muses of various kinds of art. Interest in art, inspired by the friendship in the early years in life, later has become one of the sources of inspiration. R. Lusis has painted the portraits of almost all actors and actresses working at the local drama theater, complementing this unique chronicle with the portraits of her contemporaries such as fellow artists, doctors, sailors and children.

"In my paintings 1 like to picture women, because 1 understand them better. 1 can't paint portraits of people 1 don't know, because first of all 1 have to get interested in the inner world of that person and only then - the appearance."

The artist is continuing the tradition of realism, survived the current trends of modernism.

Today, facing the XXIst century, when the art galleries are overloaded with the displays of abstractionism, in the context of various installations lyrical, clear, bright water-colored paintings of R. Lusis look like tiny romantic oasis. They tell about the ever-growing desire of the artist to believe in a person, in the vitality of the nature's force and that "beauty will save the world".

Without the difficult, at this time almost non-existent, genre of portrait which R. Lusis focuses on, she often paints still life with flowers, honoring every blossom, of the arrogant rose or a chamomile of the fields.

Creative work of the artist Renate Lusis is not only distinctive input in the field of water- coloring, but also a flame of hope, lighting up in every water-colored painting done with love.
